Tsinghua University-The University of Amsterdam Joint Research Center for Logic Inaugurated at Tsinghua University

On July 2, the inauguration ceremony for Tsinghua University-The University of Amsterdam Joint Research Center for Logic was held in the Main Building of Tsinghua, and after the ceremony was the international conference of Trends in Logic. The Center also organized the Third East-Asian School on Logic, Language and Computation (EASLLC 2014) from July 3-8, gathering 20 experts and over 80 students mainly from Oxford University, UC Berkeley, Indiana University and Hong Kong University.

Professor Yao Qizhi from Tsinghua Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences and Professor S. Abramsky, from Oxford University were the PC chairs of the summer school, while Professor Liu Fenrong from the Philosophy Department chaired the Organizing Committee. The instructors included Professor L. Moss from Indiana University, Professor P.G. Kolaitis from UC Santa Cruz and IBM Research Lab, Professor J. Väänänen from the University of Helsinki, Finland, Professors S. Smets and A. Baltag from the University of Amsterdam, Professor S. Abramsky from Oxford University and Professor W. Holliday from UC Berkeley. Six courses were offered in the curriculum, each containing 10 hours of instruction and interactive activities in five meetings.
