The Beijing Annual Conference of IAUPE (The International Association of University Professors of English), jointly hosted by Tsinghua University and Beijing Foreign Studies University, was held at Tsinghua from July 16th to 20th. More than one hundred senior professors from seventy universities in twenty countries and regions, including the UK, the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Poland, Russia, Israel, Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea and India, attended the conference. Xie Weihe, vice president of Tsinghua University, and Jewel Spears Brooker, the chairperson of IAUPE International Committee, attended the opening ceremony. This conference has covered 16 topics in its 34 panel sessions. Professor Cao Li, Professor Tong Yanping and Professor Yu Shiyi from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures in our university delivered speeches and participated in the discussions during the conference.
