On September 22, the Alan Macfarlane Lecture hosted by the Tsinghua Academy of Chinese Learning and co-sponsored by Beijing Shiji Wenjing Wenhuachuanbo Gongsi was held in Room 205 at Xinzhai, and at the lecture the first book in the first Jiangxueshe seriesThe Invention of the Modern Worldwas brought to the view of the audience. The lecture titled “Reflections upon the Birth of the Modern World” was hosted by Professor Liu Dong, associate director of the Academy, who also introduced the origin and goals of the Jiangxueshe Series.
