Professor Makoto Kobayashi gave a Lecture on &#34Violation of matter-antimatter symmetry&#34 at Tsinghua

Professor Makoto Kobayashi gave a Lecture on "Violation of matter-antimatter symmetry" at Tsinghua University on October 21st, 2010. Associate Professor, Dr. WANG Wei had the honor to host this lecture.

Prof. Kobayashi is a world-famous theoretical physicist whose research direction is elementary particle theory. He was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics for building the Kobayashi-Maskawa Matrix which explains the origin of the broken symmetry and predicts the existence of undiscovered quarks when he was a research associate at Kyoto University in 1973. Since last 60s Prof. Kobayashi went into the study of physics, his tireless work for so many years has made immeasurable contributions for human beings to understand the law of micro world. He has been working in Japan's National Laboratory for High Energy Physics for years and cultivated a lot of excellent students and researchers for the field of high energy physics. He has also vigorously promoted the collaboration between China's high energy physics society and the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization of Japan.

The lecture was sponsored by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. It is also one of the Global Vision Lectures organized by the International Office of Tsinghua University. More than 150 students and scholars attended the lecture.
