On December 15, 2010, James Guanzhong Wen, Professor of Economics and International Studies at Trinity College, USA, gave a talk "Land System: Structural Factors of the Pressures from RMB Appreciation" in the Theoretical Economists Seminar at SHSS, Tsinghua. Professor Wen discussed issues regarding modern transformation of the current land system in China, and argued that it is imperative to change the mode of urban development and land management system to allow people both in the city and rural areas to benefit from urbanization in the decades to come.
