Profile
Ge Fei (b. 1964, Dantu, Jiangsu Province), a celebrated Chinese writer and scholar, is Professor of Chinese Literature at Tsinghua University. A pioneering figure in China’s avant-garde literary movement since the 1980s, he is renowned for his novels and critical works that bridge creative practice and academic rigor. His fiction, translated into nearly 20 languages, has earned him the Lu Xun Literary Award, Lao She Literary Award, and Mao Dun Literary Award—China’s highest literary honors.
As a Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Writers Association and Vice Chair of the Beijing Writers Association, Ge Fei has shaped contemporary Chinese literature through his dual roles as writer and educator. At Tsinghua, where he has taught since 2001, he founded the Center for Literary Creation and Research (2017) to advance international literary exchange, writer residencies, and student mentorship.
