Educational background
Professor Wang Qi holds a Bachelor’s degree from Peking University in China and a Ph.D. from Saint Petersburg State University in Russia. In 2015, she was awarded an honorary doctorate and the title of Honorary Professor by Russian University of Transport (RUT, formerly MIIT), becoming the 19th foreign scholar to receive this distinction since the university’s founding in 1896. She has also been appointed as a visiting professor by several leading Russian academic institutions.
Work experience
In January 2011, Professor Wang Qi founded the Institute for Sino-Russian Strategic Cooperation at Tsinghua University, where she serves as Executive Director. She has led multiple bilateral research projects between China and Russia, including serving as the lead expert for a major National Social Science Fund project, Russian Oriental Studies and Its Database Construction in 2018.
Professor Wang’s primary research focuses on Russian history and Sino-Russian relations. Over the past decades, much of her scholarly work has been published bilingually in Chinese and Russian. She has edited three volumes of the Sino-Russian Strategic Partnership Dialogue series in both languages, along with several academic journals, and has authored or co-authored over a hundred publications, including monographs, articles and translations.
