Liu Xiaofeng is a professor and doctoral advisor in the Department of History at the School of Humanities, Tsinghua University. Liu received his master’s degree in Classical Chinese Literature from Northeast Normal University in 1986. He earned a second master’s degree in Japanese History from Toyama University in Japan in 1995, and received his Ph.D. in Japanese History from Kyoto University in 2000.

Liu’s major publications include: Qingming Festival (Zhongguo shehui chubanshe, 2006), Time in East Asia: A Comparative Study of Seasonal and Festival Culture (Zhonghua shuju, 2007), The Faces of Japan (Zhongyang bianyi chubanshe, 2007), Duanwu (Sanlian shudian, 2012), The Twenty-Four Solar Terms (Heilongjiang shao’er chubanshe, 2017) Time and the Ancient East Asian World (Shehui kexue wenxian chubanshe, 2021)
