Wang Dongjie specializes in the study of modern Chinese history and Chinese intellectual and cultural history.

Work experience

He has published nearly a hundred academic papers in prestigious journals such as Social Sciences in China《中国社会科学》, Historical Research《历史研究》, and Modern Chinese History Studies《近代史研究》. His recent publications include Sound into the Heart: The National Language Movement and Modern China(《声入心通:国语运动与现代中国》), Exploring the Unseen: Knowledge Practices in Two Qian-long and Jia-qing Era Zhiguai Collections(《探索幽冥:乾嘉时期两部志怪中的知识实践》), The Village Sage: Yan Yuan and the Intellectual Transformation of Ming-Qing Thought(《乡里的圣人:颜元与明清思想转型》), and The Advent of a Planned Society: Revisiting Kang Youwei’s Datong Shu(《规划社会的来临:重读〈大同书〉》). He has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" and has received the Baosteel National Outstanding Teacher Award. His scholarly achievements have been recognized with one first-class prize and two third-class prizes in provincial/ministerial-level Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Awards.
