Educational background
Hou Xudong, Professor of Department of History, School of Humanities, Tsinghua University. Main concerns are on the history of early empires and early medieval China as well as the unearthed wood and bamboo slips, and recently concentrating on the mechanism and nature of Chinese traditional empires.

(2020), Favoritism: Monarchs’ relationship with subjects based on private trust and unfolding the Former Han History (2018), Seeing medieval history of China closely, a collection of Hou Xudong (2015), The Life-world of Villagers in Early Medieval China: Court, Local Governments and Cunli (2005,2022), Under the protections of Buddhas: People’s beliefs seen through donors inscriptions during the Northern Dynasties China (1998,2015,2018), and more than 80 papers.
