Educational background

Zhou Sicheng received M.A. from Beijing Normal University, and PhD. degree from Peking University. He worked at the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau and Central Party History and Literature Research Institute, and was a visiting scholar at the Department of Political Science of the University of Tübingen (2012-2013).

Work experience

He is associate professor of the Department of History at Tsinghua University. His research fields are the legal system of the Yuan dynasty, the military history and ethnic history of Inner Asia. He has published over 50 academic papers in the journals including Historical Research, Ethno-National Studies, Research es in Chinese Economic History, and Western Regions Studies, etc. He has also published several books such as The Wrath of Khan: the Mongols’ Expedition to Japan, Discipline, Punishment, and Conquest: The Military Rituals and Laws of the Mongol-Yuan Empire, and The Siege Wars of the Jurchens against the Mongols”, etc.
